WINDOW TINT AFTERCARE
Your new window tint needs a short curing period to achieve its best appearance and long-term performance. Use the guidelines below to help ensure your tint cures properly and lasts for years.
What You May Notice During the Curing Process
It is completely normal to see the following during the first few days after installation:
- Moisture or water pockets
- Minor haze
- Slight distortion
- Small bubbles
Is this a problem? No.
These are normal signs of the curing process. Moisture remains between the glass and the film immediately after installation and will gradually evaporate as the tint cures. Depending on weather conditions and humidity, the curing process may take up to two weeks.
For the First 24 Hours
Do not roll down your windows.
Lowering the windows before the film has bonded completely can catch the edges, causing the tint to peel, shift, or develop permanent creases. Allowing the film to cure undisturbed helps ensure a clean, professional finish and maximum durability.
Cleaning Your Tinted Windows
Once the tint has fully cured, clean your windows using only ammonia-free glass cleaners and a soft microfiber towel.
Avoid cleaners containing ammonia, as they can damage the window film over time and may affect your warranty coverage.

PAINT PROTECTION FILM (PPF) AFTERCARE
Your new Paint Protection Film is designed to protect your vehicle for years, but it needs time to fully bond to the surface. Following these aftercare guidelines will help ensure the best appearance, durability, and long-term performance.
What You May Notice During the Curing Process
It is completely normal to notice the following during the first couple of weeks:
- Small bubbles
- Moisture pockets
- Slight adhesive distortion
- Temporary silvering or changes in appearance
Is this a problem? No.
Just like freshly installed window tint, Paint Protection Film traps a small amount of moisture between the film and your vehicle’s paint. As the film cures, this moisture will naturally evaporate.
The curing process typically takes about two weeks, depending on weather conditions and your vehicle’s heat cycles. Heat cycles occur through normal sun exposure or the warmth generated while driving, helping the adhesive fully bond to the paint.
During the First 4–5 Days
Do not wash your vehicle.
Allow the film adequate time to cure before exposing it to a full wash.
If bird droppings, tree sap, or similar contaminants land on the film during this period, gently remove them using a clean, damp microfiber towel. If you received an emergency care kit, you may also use the included quick detail spray and microfiber towel.
Never wipe the film with a dry towel.
Dry wiping can drag dirt and debris across the surface, acting like sandpaper and potentially causing scratches or permanent marring.
Washing & Pressure Washing
Once the initial curing period has passed, you may safely wash your vehicle.
If using a pressure washer:
- Keep the nozzle 4–5 feet away from the edges of the film.
- Rinse the vehicle from a safe distance.
- Never aim high-pressure water directly at the film edges.
- Avoid using pressure to blast away bugs or heavy debris at close range.
Improper pressure washing can lift the film and may not be covered under your warranty.
Your Complimentary Two-Week Inspection
We recommend scheduling a follow-up appointment approximately two weeks after installation. This visit allows our team to confirm that your Paint Protection Film has cured properly and continues to perform as intended.
You may choose between:
Quick Inspection
- Approximately 20–30 minutes for partial front-end installations
- Approximately 60 minutes or more for full vehicle installations
Inspection + Complimentary First Wash
- Recommended drop-off between 8:00–8:30 AM
- Typical turnaround time of 2–3 hours
During your follow-up appointment, we will inspect the film for any remaining moisture pockets, verify proper adhesion, and perform any minor edge trimming or adjustments if necessary.
We encourage you to schedule your follow-up appointment before leaving with your vehicle or book it later through our online scheduling system.

CERAMIC COATING AFTERCARE
Thank you for trusting Taurus Detailing with your vehicle. Your ceramic coating provides outstanding gloss, hydrophobic protection, and easier maintenance, but proper care during the initial curing period is essential to ensure maximum performance and longevity.
During the First 7 Days
Your ceramic coating is safe if it rains after installation, so there’s no need to worry about unexpected weather. However, the coating continues its initial curing process during the first week, making proper care especially important.
During this time:
- Do not wash your vehicle for the first 7 days.
- Do not apply any chemicals to the paint, including soaps, detail sprays, cleaners, degreasers, or waxes.
- Keep a clean, soft microfiber towel in your vehicle in case you need to remove moisture or contaminants.
If It Rains
After the rain has stopped, gently dry the horizontal surfaces of your vehicle—such as the hood, roof, and trunk—with a clean microfiber towel. This helps minimize the chance of water spots or dirt drying onto the fresh coating.
Bird Droppings or Tree Sap
If bird droppings, bug residue, or tree sap land on your vehicle during the first week:
- Lightly dampen a clean microfiber towel with plain water.
- Gently wipe the affected area.
- Do not scrub or apply excessive pressure.
If the contaminant does not come off easily, contact our team before attempting additional cleaning methods.
Washing After the First Week
Once the initial seven-day curing period has passed, regular washing will help preserve the coating’s gloss, hydrophobic performance, and long-term protection.
Recommended Washing Methods
For the best results, we recommend washing your vehicle in the following order:
- Rinseless wash (safest option)
- Hand wash at home using proper wash techniques
- Professional hand wash (inform the shop that your vehicle has a ceramic coating)
- Touchless automatic wash
- Traditional automatic car wash (least recommended)
About Automatic Car Washes
Automatic washes generally will not remove your ceramic coating, but repeated use can create swirl marks and fine scratches that affect your vehicle’s appearance over time.
If an automatic wash is occasionally your most convenient option, that’s understandable. We can always help restore your vehicle’s finish with professional maintenance services when needed.
